Electrification of transport technologies

is an important step in the right direction, especially if the necessary power to run those vehicles is obtained from renewable and clean sources. Another green methodology that helps reduce air pollution in the cities is sustainable urban design. Thanks to mindful urban planning and design it is possible to increase the green areas with oxygen producing trees and improve ventilation. There is no doubt that in the coming years the air of our cities will become cleaner thanks to those green technologies.

Traffic and polluting industries are the major contributors to air pollution in our cities.

Air pollution is contamination of the indoor or outdoor environment by any chemical, physical or biological agent that modifies the natural characteristics of the atmosphere.Household combustion devices, motor vehicles, industrial facilities and forest fires are common sources of air pollution. Pollutants of major public health concern include particulate matter, carbon monoxide, ozone, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Outdoor and indoor air pollution cause respiratory and other diseases and are important sources of morbidity and mortality.

Implement Green Spaces and Urban Planning

Green spaces, such as parks and gardens, play a vital role in mitigating air pollution in cities. Trees and plants act as natural air filters, absorbing pollutants and releasing oxygen. Incorporating green spaces into urban planning initiatives can help create a healthier urban environment.

Buy local products and produce

Shopping local means that the food had to travel less to where you are, thus decreasing transport emissions. Aside from the environmental benefits, you gain control over what you eat by knowing where the food comes from and how it was produced. You can also feel good about supporting local businesses! Products made close to home are usually highlighted on the packaging at your local supermarket. You are also able to find them by connecting with your community at your resident farmer’s market!
